Hi.  I'm Jen Barnes

I have a passion for helping women heal and live in a way that feels meaningful and enjoyable.  The daughter of a nurse, my path has always been to serve.

As I have connected with my nursing friends, clients, and colleagues I have heard a common message:  they are burned out.  They feel overworked, underpaid, exhausted, and struggling to hold it together emotionally with all of the added stress of the past year.

I've been there: on the path to burnout.  I just about left my career as a psychotherapist while working in community mental health and seeing over 40 therapy clients per week!  I realized I was about to break and identified a number of strategies to cope effectively with the things I couldn't change, manage my own stress in better ways, and not only stay in my profession but thrive in it.  I am excited to help nurses and other health professionals do the same.

A little bit about me...

I earned my Masters in Social Work from the University of St. Thomas and the College of St. Catherine in 2005 having become an LICSW in 2008. I completed my initial EMDR training in 2014 with John Hartung and became EMDR certified in January 2018.  I have been teaching yoga since 2009, and became a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT200) in 2010 and a E-RYT (i.e., have taught more than 1000 hours of yoga) in 2015.  In 2019, I completed my Level One training in Internal Family Systems (IFS).  My continuing education has been focused on bringing the body into trauma therapy, IFS, EMDR, and working with the body through the autonomic nervous system.  I have a full time private practice in Minneapolis, MN and also offer online courses.  Most recently I have started consulting with teams on mental health and burnout.  I love my home in Minnesota where I am close to family and friends.
